Assignment Details 

Job Description:

 

Research Technologist: Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.

Processing samples (stool, urine, tissue, blood, etc.) and stored properly according to the procedures. Perform routine inventory of sample archives and chemicals. Follows lab safety guidelines. Sets up and performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals, grant commitments, i.e. tissue cutting, DNA extraction, assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters and summarizes data. Performs basic statistical data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Presents at research laboratory meetings and contributes to writing of manuscripts. Works under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator. Hours- M-F 8a-5p. Depending on the project there may be a need for weekend or after 5pm work time but it would not be often if any.

 

Qualifications

Requires bachelor's degree in biochemistry or other relevant science. Prefer someone with basic knowledge of computer systems, database systems and programing skills. Must have Microsoft Office: Words, Excel and Access Database user knowledge.
