Job Description:

 

To assist with the design, production and creation of visual materials for our Client and their affiliates in a variety of mediums, which may include: books, magazines, brochures, physical displays, gifts, posters and electronic mediums including web design, electronic presentations, and multimedia products. The Production Designer may perform and/or assist in: image manipulation, file preparation, information layout, physical assembly, and/or direct customer consultation in additional to their normal production activities. Some tasks will be routine and pre-defined, others more open to creative problem solving within our Client's brand identity standards. They are an integral team member. 

The Production Designer continually looks for ways to improve their work, and the Division’s processes and relationships. 

Specifics:

There are two needs. First, we are looking for resource(s) who can focus on print production needs. Mostly working off of templates to complete print projects. Secondarily, there is a need for someone who can work within PowerPoint (on a PC) as a base for presentations. We are looking for someone who has the skills in both of these areas, or in one area. The majority of work in both areas will be rush projects- we are looking for someone flexible, who works well under tight timelines, with great customer service. ***Hours are 0-40 per week, as needed based off of the project. Estimate is an average of 20 hr/wk.*** To assist with the design, production and creation of visual materials for our Client and their affiliates in a variety of mediums, which may include: books, magazines, brochures, physical displays, gifts, posters and electronic mediums including web design, electronic presentations, and multimedia products. The Production Designer may perform and/or assist in: image manipulation, file preparation, information layout, physical assembly, and/or direct customer consultation in additional to their normal production activities. Some tasks will be routine and pre-defined, others more open to creative problem solving within our Client's brand identity standards. They are an integral team member. A large initial portion of the work will be templated items, needing updates and copy updated.

 

Qualifications

 

This position requires a two-year degree in graphic design, fine arts, illustration or related field. At least two years experience in a service-oriented high-volume setting, manipulating and optimizing images, and assisting with product design and production. Excellent time management skills; Ability to communicate clearly and articulately; Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team-based environment; Ability to take direction from art directors and designers. Organized self-starter that is highly productive, has a strong work ethic, is detail-oriented, and has good basic design instincts. 
Candidates should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The production designer must be able to work under tight deadlines, work on multiple projects at one time, and be able to self-manage workloads. Flexibility is a requirement as the field evolves towards newer technologies. 
Candidates must be familiar with the use and application of a wide variety of design software programs. Expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office. Thorough knowledge of Web image formats, image optimization and image manipulation. 

Portfolio review will be required. Candidates must be highly motivated, flexible, resourceful, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Able to manage multiple production tasks simultaneously in a deadline driven environment filled with ambiguity and competing priorities. Candidates must also be able work independently, communicate clearly and concisely, and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills. The ability to contribute effectively in a team environment and build rapport with colleagues and clients is critical. He/she must demonstrate an understanding of publishing technologies which may or may not include prepress, printing, multimedia and web publishing. Close attention to detail and follow-through are very important.

Will be rejected if portfolio is not included with resume.*** Candidates must be familiar with the use and application of a wide variety of design software programs.
