Assignment Details 

Job Description:

* Performs and evaluates diagnostic testing to provide accurate and reliable laboratory results. * Treats abnormal results according to policies and procedures. * Completes orders, enters and verifies test results. Documents all written data, files or sorts paperwork. Completes other clerical functions accurately to ensure accurate test ordering and reporting of patient results. * Completes routine maintenance, troubleshoots and repair procedures on laboratory instruments to ensure proper operation. Completes appropriate documentation. Consults with technical support as required. * Performs specimen collection and processing to ensure the accurate and appropriate performance of patient testing while maintaining patient dignity, comfort and confidentiality. * Complies with laboratory safety and infection control policies to ensure a safe work environment. * Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. * Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements. * Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned. Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, techniques and instruments. Reports To: DIRECTOR CLINIC-216 Direction of Others: None.


Essential: Attention to Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task. Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc). Inspection: Critical appraisal skills including examination, measurement, and testing of quality and condition of equipment, materials, or services. Interpersonal Communication: Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection. Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves. Professional Practice: Demonstrates behavior consistent with the standards, scope of practice, ethics, and characteristics of a licensed professional.

* Trade or Vocational Certification Completion of an MLT/CLT program or equivalent. Must meet CLIA 88 specifications Credentials Essential: Description: Certified Med Laboratory Tech (MLT) Qualification Source: American Society for Clinical Pathology Description: Basic Life Support (BLS) Qualification Source: American Heart Association Credential Comments: Certified Medical Lab Technician, MLT (ASCP) or eligible to sit for exam. Certification must be completed within one year of hire. Experience: 1 to 2 years clinical laboratory experience performing routine laboratory testing preferred. Additional education may be substituted for up to one year of experience.

Certifications & Licenses:    
Certified Med Laboratory Tech (MLT)

Certified Medical Lab Technician, MLT (ASCP) or eligible to sit for exam. Certification must be completed within one year of hire.
