Assignment Details 

Job Description:

  • Performs delegated medical functions under the direction of a physician, authorized practitioner or RN in the delivery of care for all assigned patient populations, in accordance with all policy, procedure and practice guidelines.
    Supports providers in the delivery of patient care services. Prepares examining areas and patients for examination, procedure or treatment by physician or other authorized practitioner. Obtains vital signs and records patient’s medical history and other relevant data. Assists physician with patient examinations, treatments and/or procedures. Administers injections or assists with treatments/procedures under direction of authorized practitioner. May perform administrative duties: schedules, coordinates and monitors patient appointments, admissions and/or procedures, organize/maintain medical records and performs business-related tasks such as procedural/diagnostic coding, prepares submittable insurance forms. As a health care advocate, supports patient focused care and provides patient instruction.
    Schedules, coordinates and monitors patient appointments for provider visits, patient admissions and/or special procedure(s).
    Verifies patient demographic and insurance information.
    Enters patient demographic and insurance information into practice management system.
    Verifies necessary forms requiring patient signature are completed.
    Helps obtain/ensure diagnostic test results for provider/authorized practitioner review is available.
    Sends/receives patient medical record information following confidentiality guidelines and standards.
    Accurately answers basic questions from patients regarding the procedures and tests they schedule for patients.
    Monitors provider schedules and organizes patient flow.
    Delivers patient care as delegated by the physician/authorized
    practitioner or RN to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
    Performs initial-response screening following protocols approved by supervising physician.
    Prepares and maintains exam/treatment rooms for patientvisits and restocks supplies as needed.
    Adheres to infection control policies/procedures for exam room and instrument/equipment cleaning.
    Rooms patient(s) and gathers data for patient assessment
    Obtains, evaluates and records patient history employing critical thinking skills.
    Obtains and records vital signs
    Prepares patient for and may assist with examinations, procedures and/or treatments.
    Prepares and administers oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications and immunizations as directed by supervising
    physician and as permitted by state law.
    Maintains medication and immunization records.
    Accurately documents care in the medical record.
    Screens and follows up on test results
    Communicates effectively with patients and other members ofthe healthcare team.

Qualifications

  • Job Qualifications
    Experience: Type and Length
    Required:
    Some successful medical or clinic experience.
    Preferred:
    One to three years of Medical Assistant or related medical experience.

    Additional Requirements: Technical skills, languages, software, office equipment
    Required:
    Good keyboarding, phone and computer software utilization skills.
    Manual dexterity. Ability to work under stress in a variety of situations and other clinics. Previous ambulatory care experience preferred. EMR and patient scheduling experience.

    Education:Education: Degrees, License, Certification, Registration

    Required:
    Medical Assistance Certification from an accredited school. If not certified, must attain AAMA certification within one year of employment and have completed MA program at an accredited school. BLS certification preferred.

    Preferred:
    Graduate from an accredited CMA program with an Associate’s Degree. 
    Currently Certified Medical Assistant. 
    Maintains certification by retesting or maintaining CEU level as determined by the AAMA

Shift

  • 8hr shifts, 40 hr/wk
