Qualifications: 3 years RN experience; Med-Surg preferred. Utilization experience helpful. Telephonic experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office products
Complex case management is the coordination of care and services provided to members who have experienced a critical event or diagnosis that requires the extensive use of resources and who need help navigating the system to facilitate appropriate delivery of care and services. The goal of complex case management is to help members regain optimal health or improved functional capability, in the right setting, and in a cost-effective manner. The case manager completes a comprehensive assessment of the member's condition; determines available benefits and resources, and develop and implements a case management plan with performance goals, monitoring and follow-up. For international business, the case manager coordinates care for international members who come to the United States for care. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with members from other countries and cultures. This position may require on-call hours for after-hours care coordination needs.
Graduate of a National League for Nursing (NLN) or Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited bachelors nursing program or master's degree in social work from an accredited institution by a nationally recognized educational accreditation organization (applies to behavioral health case management only). The candidate must have a minimum of 7 years clinical experience relevant to the case management position.
Computer and keyboarding skills preferred. Knowledge of coding principles (ICD-9, DSM IV, CPT, and HCPC) and medical criteria preferred Case management experience or prior experience in utilization management preferred. Certification as a Case Manager is preferable.
